History
- In 1971 after a few meetings in David F. Nolan, eight activist decided to begin the Libertarian party.
- Than a year later in 1972 the first national convention was held in Denver, Colorado. John Hospers was nominated as the Libertarian'd presidential candidate. The vice presidential candidate, Tonie Nathan was the first women to gain an electoral vote.
- In 1996 the Libertarian Party becomes the first third party to earn ballot status within all 50 states for two years in a row. In this year the Presidential nominating convention choose Harry Browne, who goes on to win nearly 486,000 votes.
Philosophy
- They believe answer to American's political problems are:
- dedication to the civil liberties and person freedoms
- foreign policies of free trade, peace, and non-intervention, as the founders of America believed it should be.
